First of all, we need to know what chamfer is. Chamfer refers to the machining of cutting the edges and corners of the workpiece into an inclined plane. In normal machining, it is to remove the burrs on the parts due to machining, and to facilitate the assembly of parts, it is generally to make chamfers at the ends of parts. Generally, there are right angles and rounded corners, with angle differences of 45 °, 30 ° and 60 °. In addition, it is also widely used in construction, decoration, glass, furniture, plate, electronic products and other fields. Here I will focus on the role of chamfer in bearing.
First of all, the chamfer on the bearing can remove the burrs left after processing. Burrs will appear on the edges and corners of the workpiece during processing. These burrs not only affect the assembly, but also easily scratch people or other parts. The chamfer can make the edges and corners less sharp, so that they will not be scratched when touching the edges and corners. In addition, it plays a guiding role during reassembly, and the bearing with chamfer is easier to install.
In terms of processing technology, chamfering can also release the stress of bearing steel during heat treatment, which can effectively avoid cracks and reduce the deformation caused by material heat treatment.
In addition, there is another thing to pay attention to in application, that is, the size of chamfer. This is a place that is easy to be ignored. Because there are many bearing manufacturers and there are differences in the standards of various countries or manufacturers, the size of chamfer will also be different (the difference is more obvious in the replacement of imported bearings and domestic bearings). In some and special mechanical equipment, there will be large chamfer between the shaft and the shoulder, which is more common in tapered roller bearings. If the bearing with small chamfer is installed in this case, the bearing cannot be installed to the predetermined position, that is, because the chamfer of the bearing is too small, the end face of the inner ring of the bearing cannot contact the end face of the shoulder.
